At A glance

Notties is a lovely vibrant community with people who farm, own or work in small businesses, commute to and from our major hubs, have moved here for the country lifestyle, work in the tourism sector, etc. It is a caring, close-knit and remarkable community with lots of interesting characters! We like to support locals in terms of shopping, events, markets, fundraising, community schools, and each other. During both good and challenging times, we certainly pull together! That's what makes the Notties community special and unique.

The Midlands is largely centered around agriculture and tourism. Many people have moved to here for lifestyle reasons, particularly after Covid, and for the excellent schools in our area while retaining their business interests in the commercial nodes of Johannesburg and Durban.
We have definitive seasons in Nottingham Road with lovely changes in colour across our landscape.

There are a number of phenomenal private schools in the broader region namely: - Clifton Notties, Carlyle College, Nottingham Road Pre-primary, Nottingham Road Primary school, Treverton, Michaelhouse, Hilton College, and St Anne’s Diocesan College.

The Midlands Meander has world-class accommodations, dining, arts and craft,s and leisure establishments - there's something for every taste here.

The Natal Midlands is rich with rivers, lakes, dams, and waterfalls - the landscape is blessed with green pastures, hills, and forests, and the northern regions of the Midlands are dominated by the foothills and mountains of the Drakensberg.

If you're not hiking then spend time exploring the many coffee shops, art galleries, pretty guest houses, health spas, cheese farms, trout farms, potters, weavers, and painters who have made this region their home. The Midlands Meander is now a wonderfully
