Hilton resembles an English country village and is only 10 kilometers from Pietermaritzburg - People are attracted to Hilton as it is cooler than Pietermaritzburg and has scenic Drakensberg views. The town has 10 000+ residents but still maintains its village feel. It is home to no fewer than five excellent schools, including the boarding schools St Anne's and Hilton College. Hilton College has become the site of the Hilton Arts Festival during September. Garlington is a popular residential estate in Hilton.
